How to choose the contractor for you

There are certain criteria you may want to consider before choosing the contractor to suit your needs as well as one who can successfully complete the project of your dreams.

Here's a few to consider:

    1. Make sure the contractor you hire specializes in the work that you need done. If you need to replace siding, or need painting done, it might be best to call someone who specializes in those fields.

Faith Home specializes in remodeling bathrooms, basements, kitchens and putting additions on your house. Through focusing on the specific areas, our carpenters have become experts in making these projects become a beautiful part of your home.

    2. You should also only hire a contractor who is licensed and insured. Unlicensed contractors may not meet the standards required for performance or compliance to the various building codes that may be applicable. Poor workmanship and non-compliance can cost you in the long run.

Faith Home is both licensed and insured. (MHIC 685)

    3. As of April 2010, the EPA has issued new guidlines for lead safe practices. For your own safety, you should make sure that any contractors you might hire are trained to deal with issues regarding lead paint, and are certified by the EPA.

Faith Home became a U.S. EPA Lead-Safe certified firm under the EPA Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule in April 2010.

    4. Always choose a contractor that will provide you with a written estimate. And also, the contractor who bids the lowest might not always be the best.

Faith home provides you with an accurate estimate before any contract is signed and the project gets underway.

    5. This is one some may generally overlook, but find a contractor close to your home. A contractor who knows the area, the construction of the area homes, and is known by your neighbors or friends will work to your advantage.

Faith Home stays within a certain area close to home for several reasons. We like to know our customers, build closer relationships with them, and stay close to better serve them. In many cases, if there is an emergency repair or a necessary visit that needs to be addressed, Faith Home can respond within 24 hours to deal with the issues at hand. Faith Home will actually turn down work that is too far away, because we like to make ourselves readily available to our customers by staying closer to our office.

    6. Choose a reputable company. A contractor who has been around for a while, and is known in the community for doing great work should be at the top of your list. One who hasn't established a relationship with the community you're in, or is known for it precarious ways, is a contractor you should stray away from.

Faith Home has been serving its customers in Howard County since 1974, and has won numerous awards, including the Contractor of the Year award for the past three years. Faith Home also retains a CR certification from NARI to prove its ethical standards in the remodeling business.

    7. Check out the company to see how much of their work is done from referrals. A company with a high percentage of work done by referrals shows that the company does work well enough to recommend to family, neighbors and friends.

Faith Home has an outstanding 85% referral rate. Not much needs to be said about that, other than our promise to you is that we will strive to complete your remodeling project so that you can feel comfortable recommending us to your closest family and friends. That we feel is a pivitol part of running a great, friendly, talented and trustworthy remodeling business.
